Anderson, INNov. 22, 2016As a part of Hoosier Park’s ongoing efforts to give back to the Madison County community, Hoosier Park Racing & Casino team members delivered a truckload of food earlier today to the Christian Center located in downtown Anderson. The donated food will be prepared at The Christian Center and served at The Knights of Columbus on Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, Nov. 24 – from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

While the Turkeys are already provided, Hoosier Park supports the event by donating approximately $2,000 worth of extras such as sides, butter, sour cream, and more. This year, the center hopes to serve hot Thanksgiving meals to more than 400 people, topping the amount of meals served last year.

In addition, Hoosier Park’s culinary team is preparing 340 pounds of turkey to be delivered to Anderson’s Geater Community Center for the 34th annual Gospel Highlight Radio Broadcast Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The turkeys are cooked, sliced, and delivered by the Hoosier Park team prior to the start of the community feast.

Thanksgiving dinner at Geater Community Center, which will also take place on Thanksgiving day, runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will provide free meals to approximately 1,000 community members in need.

“This is Hoosier Park’s sixth year working with The Christian Center and the fourth year working with Geater Community Center,” said Amy Jacobs, Hoosier Park’s director of food and beverage. “These Thanksgiving events are something our team looks forward to each year – helping out our fellow community members is what the holidays are all about.”

The Thanksgiving donations are just the start to Hoosier Park’s holiday giving. Sunday, Nov. 27 marks the start of Hoosier Park’s annual $10,000 Charity Slot tournament, which runs on Sundays through Dec. 18. Also, Tuesday, Nov. 29 kicks off a Gift & Game promotion that will run Tuesdays through Thursdays through Dec. 22. During the promotion, guests are encouraged to donate $10 and in return, they will receive a complimentary $10 in free slot play as a thank you for their contribution. Both charitable promotions benefit several Madison County non-profits.

“We have a strong commitment to making a positive impact in Hoosier Park’s surrounding communities – and especially during the holiday season,” said Hoosier Park’s Vice President and General Manager of Gaming Michael Facenda. “There are a lot of incredible people in our community working hard to make the holiday season memorable for those in need, and we are humbled to be a part of it.”
