Hoosier Park to Host Psychic Fair Fundraiser for Animal Protection League on May 19

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino is set to host a Psychic Fair fundraiser to benefit the Animal Protection League (APL) in Anderson. The event will be held on Saturday, May 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the lower level grandstands at Hoosier Park. Guests who donate $10 to APL during the event will receive a free psychic reading. All proceeds will go to the Animal Protection League.

Located at 613 Dewey St. in Anderson, the Animal Protection League protects and cares for unwanted animals and works to raise awareness for the humane treatment of animals. APL offers low-cost spay and neuter programs, and fights against animal abuse. Through a partnership with the City of Anderson and Executive Director Maleah Stringer, the Animal Protection League also serves as the management operation for the city’s animal shelter.

“The work done at APL reminds us that there are few things in life more important than giving a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves. Our mission is to make second chances possible through the human/animal connection. We take that mission seriously,” said Jahnae Erpenbach, president of the APL board of directors and Indiana Grand senior vice president and general manager of gaming. “We’re working hard to raise funds for the protection, treatment, and care of unwanted animals. The Psychic Fair at Hoosier Park is a great way to help. Join us on this family-fun Saturday and show your support for APL.”

The Animal Protection League relies on the assistance of staff and volunteers, as well as the generosity of sponsors and donors. Those wishing to become a volunteer or sponsor may stop by the shelter in person or email inaplemma@gmail.com. Donations can be made securely online at http://www.inapl.org/donate or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 2242 Anderson, Ind. 46018.

“Our vision at the Animal Protection League is to provide a compassionate, humane community for our animals,” noted Rick Moore, APL treasurer and Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing. “We want to find loving and lifelong adopters for those left homeless. Saturday will be a valuable fundraiser for our organization.”

The Animal Protection League also supports several programs including the FIDO Prison Program, 9 Lives Cat Prison Program, The Cat Sanctuary, FORWARD Prison Program, and Saving Max. For additional information about the Animal Protection League visit http://www.inapl.org.
