Me and My Baby, driven by Joe Essig Jr., charged out of the gate to take the early lead. Just after the quarter-mile mark in :27.2, Real Velocity passed Me and My Baby to take the lead.

Racing down the backstretch, Real Velocity held a one-length lead over Me and My Baby. At the three-quarter mile mark in a time of 1:25.0, Real Velocity continued her strong performance as she controlled the lead.

In the stretch, Real Velocity held off a late charging Me and My Baby to win in a time of 1:52.0. Me and My Baby and JD’s Lady Lynn, guided by John Taylor, rounded out the trifecta.

“She (Real Velocity) felt pretty good today,” said Dillander. “I felt pretty confident after the first quarter, as long as she was herself, and she was. After the third quarter, it was pretty easy. I was pretty confident that we could hold Me and My Baby off to win.”

Owned by TKO Racing Stable of Greenfield, Ind. and trained by Trent Stohler, Real Velocity has earned over $350,000 in her lifetime. The four-year-old mare by Real Artist returned $3.20, $2.20, and $2.10 for her latest performance. She recently took a new lifetime mark of 1:51.1 at Hoosier Park in late May. Real Velocity has combined for 12 career wins in 32 outings.
