Schaut Stable Named Texas Roadhouse Barn of the Month
The Rick Schaut Stable was honored as the second recipient of Barn Crew of the Month Saturday, June 21. The award is presented by Texas Roadhouse of Anderson.
Schaut keeps a stable of 12 horses on the backstretch at Hoosier Park, with immaculate surroundings. He also recently recorded the second fastest mile ever contested at Hoosier Park when he guided Green River Gorge to victory in a time of 1:49.0. The mile was the fastest of the 2008 meet and the fastest time ever outside of the Dan Patch Invitational Pace. Green River Gorge recorded the mile during the $23,000 Invitational Pace Saturday, June 7, which was the first Saturday night for the new casino operation at Hoosier Park.
Schaut recognized his assistant, Lori, as a strong component of the stable. The entire Schaut team works hard to prepare their horses for racing not only at Hoosier Park, but for the Ohio Sires Stakes where Schaut is also competing.
The Schaut Stable received a $100 gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse on Scatterfield Road in Anderson. Rick Moore, Hoosier Park’s president and general manager, made the presentation along with Gary Wolff, Hoosier Park’s new track superintendent. Wolff is also a member of the backstretch committee that selects Barn Crew of the Month.
