Johnny Rockets: An Exciting Eating Experience
There is a new place to dine at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino that once visited, will not soon be forgotten. Located in The Terrace at the top of the racing grandstand, Johnny Rockets is a retro diner-style eatery that boasts a nostalgic atmosphere and great-tasting all-American favorites.
Johnny Rockets first opened in June of 1986 on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. They grew rapidly. Now, over 20 years later, they have over 200 restaurants throughout the U.S. Johnny Rockets is no stranger to casinos. They opened their first casino location in 1995 at the Reno Hilton in Reno, Nevada.
Johnny Rockets is famous for having “the original hamburger.” It has won “best hamburger” in numerous cities around the U.S. Johnny Rockets has other classics such as hand-dipped shakes and malts, flavored soda pop and freshly baked apple pie. You also have the option to switch any burger to a 100% soy Boca® burger or turkey patty.
Not only is Johnny Rockets a great place for food, but for fun as well.
“We have fun. It’s a requirement,” said Johnny Rockets Manager Suzie Seybert. “It is all about the experience of Johnny Rockets.”
The requirement that Seybert refers to is dancing. Every half-hour, or whenever business flow allows, every employee stops what he or she is doing and starts to dance. Even the cooks get in on the action. The choreographed dances are set to oldies songs such as “At the Hop” and “The Twist.” Even the guests are welcome and encouraged to join in the amusement.
“The dancing is my favorite part,” said Amanda Miller, who works the counter at Johnny Rockets.
Even when no one is dancing, there is no shortage of musical entertainment. Each table inside Johnny Rockets has its very own jukebox that plays all your favorite oldies songs for a nickel.
Johnny Rockets is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. A later closing time of midnight is offered Friday and Saturday.
So, if you are craving something a little out of the ordinary, Johnny Rockets is definitely the destination. All you need is a big appetite and a pocket full of nickels for the jukebox.
